Re: Any Thoughts on Refrigerators?

[ Edited ]

Shop around and read reviews. For example, many people have problems with Samsung - we have not! We bought it because I wanted to try a model with a bottom freezer, and it fit the spot the best. However, if cost was an issue, I'd go back to a top freezer model. I think side-by-sides have lost popularity, but check them out too. My only piece of advice is that stainless steel is hard to keep looking pristine. I'd never get another stainless steel refrigerator or range.

I also say STAY AWAY FROM SAMSUNG!!! We purchased the french door and had nothing but problems! BUT I think Samsung does have good CS. I complained so many times that after 4 years of complaining...Samsung refunded me my money and gave me a credit at Lowes which is where we purchased it. We purchased a Whirlpool which I really liked. When we moved we sold it with the house. We now have a Frigadare Gallery which is really really nice.

I recommend French doors with a freezer on the bottom.

This type has been the best, but DO NOT buy a Samsung.

I have one.  When it works, it's great, but I have had to have a repair person here several times.  Samsung did honor the warranty, but it has been a PIA...both the refrigerator and freezer section.

I won't buy another.

just bought a Frigidaire. I like it. Had a GE a for 25 years. Still worked but I needed an upgrade. I love GE but they didn't have my size anymore. I have limited space due to an older house.

@branny I feel your pain!  We ran into that issue with washer and dryer once!  They were in a small hallway out to the garage--washer and dryer on one side, cabinets and a half bath on the other side.

So when these newer model top load ones came out they stuck out 1 inch too far for the door to open and close.  We were going nuts on how to solve that but then got the opportunity on another house and moved like a shot!  I don't know how people cope with that now.  Washers grow and grow!
