Another drain question

Sometimes when my washer is running, the water in the toilet gurgles. I'm wondering if I have a drainage problem. We are in the country so we have a septic tank. DH works out of town for weeks at a time so these problems are left up to me. What would clean out a main drain pipe? I'm guessing this whole problem might be the cause of my sink drain odor. House is five years old, I shouldn't need the septic pumped yet, should I?
