Could I use some of the food scales sold on this website not only to weigh food but also to weigh envelopes to make sure I'm putting the correct amount of postage on them prior to mailing? I would be weighing envelopes such as certified mail envelopes which have additional weight on them with the return receipt green card on the back of the envelope plus extra contents placed inside the envelope.

I've priced postage scales already and 5 pound capacity models on most office supply websites start at $45.00 and go up. I only use a scale about once a month to weigh for postage or whenever I send certified mail or at Christmas time I use it to weigh my odd size Christmas cards to make sure I put the correct amount of postage on my Christmas cards prior to mailing them out. Rather than get into my car; drive to my local post office; stand in a long line to find out if I have the right amount of postage on my envelopes I would prefer to be able to do this from my house.
