Air Fryer Meat Cooking Questions?

1.  Can you cook meat from frozen or do you have to thaw?

2.  Do you have to preheat to cook hamburgers, steak, chicken, etc.?

Re: Air Fryer Meat Cooking Questions?

I cook potstickers, steak fries, chicken strips from frozen.  I preheat 2 minutes each time.

I cooked a bone-in chicken breast today that was partially frozen.  I just added a few more minutes.  Turned out great.  Nice and browned and I did not use any oil at all.

Re: Air Fryer Meat Cooking Questions?

The only meat I cook from frozen is something pre-cooked that’s meant to be cooked that way like chicken nuggets. I have made fish or chicken breasts that were partially thawed with satisfactory results. I rarely preheat my air fryer.

Re: Air Fryer Meat Cooking Questions?

I do burgers and steaks from frozen with no problems and never preheat.  Frozen 5oz burgers take 12 min, turning halfway.  Times vary with the thickness of the meat.  If you thaw first, it takes a bit less time.

Re: Air Fryer Meat Cooking Questions?

I happen to catch Meredith doing a presentation on a Cooks Essential air fryer recently

and she said that she pretty much always uses the preheat feature.  She said she felt she got better overall results.  I can see the benefits with the majority of recipes, particularly meats.
