Re: A question on MILK

[ Edited ]

I don't buy milk unless I   need it for a recipe, then I only buy a quart at a time.  If I make rice pudding, I will buy a gallon of 2%.

I always have half and half in the refrigerator.  My DH uses it for coffee.  If I need a small amount of milk for a recipe, I just use the half and half.

i do not drink milk and never have, not even as a child.  I don't do almond milk, but sometimes I cook rice with turmeric and unsweetened coconut milk and lemon grass.

I go through two half gallons a week.  For years - I buy one half gallon on Saturday and then on Wednesday - another half gallon.

I buy whichever has the freshest date.  Doesn't matter what kind it is - regular, low fat or skim.  For me, milk is milk is milk.

Between cereal and coffee ... milk moves quickly through my refrigerator!

Whole milk......Been a milk lover all my life.

Twice a day, I make chocolate milk w/Hersey cocoa powder.  Nothing like a tall glass of COLD chocolate milk sipped through a straw.

Whole milk for hot chocolate.

Whole milk for cerial & "pearl tea."

I buy it from Walmart dot com. Amazon also carries it. The can looks like this and the ingredient on the label says 'whole milk'.  @forrestwolf

@SilleeMee.  Is it a Mexican specialty product?  I've never seen it or heard of it.

i purchase whole milk, half n half, light cream, and whipping cream.

most of them now are ultra pastureized so they last even longer.

i do drink milk so do others in my house. we also use dairy for cereal and for cooking and for cocktails. i also use it to make my own yogurt. it rarely goes to waste.

I put "Nido" in the matrix I use to place my order for pick-up groceries.  It came up in two sizes so that means my local Walmart carries it.

My husband and I are both big milk drinkers. We go through a lot of gallons every week. I like the taste of milk, and it seems to sooth my stomach as well. I’d rather get my calcium from milk than calcium pills. After my last bone density test my doctor said that my bones were better than 95% of his patients, so I don’t plan to change any time soon. I drink skim milk with breakfast, lunch and dinner and add it to my morning coffee, too.

The shelf stable milk is great to keep on hand for emergencies like hurricanes.  It's with the evaporated and condensed milk in brick-shaped boxes.  I was suspicious at first but found, when chilled, it tastes exactly like fresh milk.  I keep it in my pantry at all times.  Once opened, it must be refrigerated.

This is an interesting thread, thanks for starting it @forrestwolf  I am seeing and learning a lot. I also use shelf stable almond milk for me and Fairlife fat free milk for hubby. It has a long shelf life.
