I don't know if there is any historical intent or meaning to them being displayed that way in jewelry, but when I see them, it kind of reminds me of how it must have been to carry it...

I can't find a single image of it being carried horizontally, except in one where it wasn't a cross at all, it was just a board. It would have been carried at an angle because it was likely heavy, tall, and top heavy.
I've never seen a depiction of the cross being carried horizontally.
If it makes you think of that and that has meaning for you, I think that's a powerful thing and I think jewelry should be meaningful, even if it's not accurate.

Btw, where did you copy that from?
Oh my goodness ennui, that whole thing I said led you to believe the above underlined sentence? No never. Hebrews 10:16 and 17 states the opposite. 16 "d the Holy Spirit also testifies to us; for after saying, THIS IS THE COVENANT THAT I WILL MAKE WITH THEM AFTER THOSE DAYS, SAYS THE LORD: I WILL PUT MY LAWS UPON THEIR HEART, AND ON THEIR MIND I WILL WRITE THEM," He then says, 17"AND THEIR SINS AND THEIR LAWLESS DEEDS I WILL REMEMBER NO MORE."… " So the concept of sinning and running amok as you say is not even an option. Jesus died so we would not suffer the penalty of sin, which is death. He LOVED us enough to sacrifice His son for those sins we all committed. No one who truly believes in that death and sacrifice would deliberately sin or flaunt their disobedience in His face. Paul addressed that in Romans 6:2, 6:15, 7:7 over and over. Now, we are given a better law, a New covenant. The Spirit of Christ lives in us and He guides us into all good behavior Galatians 5:23. I Peter 4:10-16. James 3:1-5. Many places in the books of the NT, our behavior, thoughts, actions, lives in Christ are given promises and direction as to how to behave. NOW, we don't have to do it to curry favor or to show others how righteous we are as many did before Jesus came and died. I've heard Creflo Dollar and Joseph Prince preach on this many times. I don't need to copy it from anywhere. I've listened and read the Word of God, the Bible and I've studied and gotten it in my life, my mind and heart. Creflo says God loves us! Joseph says God loves us. Joyce says God loves us. How could anyone run amok once someone came to them and said in essence that "I see you have a billion dollar deficit in your life, you won't ever be able to pay it off no matter how hard you work! So, here is that billion dollars plus an extra billion for future bills you may incur. Its my gift to you, free of charge, never has to be paid back!" I'm going to realize how much that person loves me and I'm going to be grateful forever. I'm going to accept that money and I'm going to do all I can to ensure that gift is utilized well.
The ten commandments are not holy themselves, only in the sense God, Himself, is Holy. Only Jesus was able to keep all 10. Only Jesus could do it. That was why the sacrifices were instituted long ago, they were a foreshadowing of His death and sacrifice. He fulfilled every moral requirement for me. Now, I'm so grateful and when His law is written on my heart, I see that to even be hateful to anyone, call them names, make fun of them, that is murder. To look at a man lastingly, or desire my neighbors things or be jealous, that is adultery or coveting. His Spirit shows me that a small lie isn't His best plan for me. Now I am free of the condemnation of the law, which calls out for my death, and I know I'm loved, forgiven and indeed the righteousness of God, in Christ because now He sees Jesus when He sees me. Now if I make a mistake, sin or fail as all humans do, I can be convicted by the Spirit that I'm wrong, He convicts me to confess my failing and sins and then He tells me, I don't condemn you, my son paid for that and now, please go and sin no more but if you do (not deliberately) then know my son's sacrifice was finished at the cross and your sins from the past, sins from today, sins for tomorrow are all erased, gone, finished, nailed to the cross.
So I don't need the mirror of the 10 commandments to condemn me, now I have the complete understanding of what that broken code cost, HIS life. Now Ephesians 23-31 has a new meaning. Chapter 5 of Ephesians has a new meaning. I honor God and Jesus and His sacrifice when I do these things. I certainly don't advocate running amok. I advocate trusting in Jesus, knowing he suffered, died, was resurrected and he fulfilled every requirement of the Law and now, our Spirit will no longer suffer the curse of sin which is death. As far as the ten commandments, they point out sin to us all. They lead to condemnation and they show us that we are sinners. If we break one of them, at any time, our fate is death. He established them to point out how we all need Him, not that they are holy but that He is that holy that if one is broken, at any time, He has to declare us dead. So, He sent Jesus to keep all the laws and then suffer and die the death I deserved for breaking one. Its all about Him, Jesus. It always was, always will be. I can never be good, holy or righteous by keeping all 10 even if I could. Paul saidthat himself. He was the guy who kept all the laws and he said, I'm a chief sinner! But, thanks be to God, He sent His son to save me from death I deserve.

I returned to ask anyone reading this, please take your Bible and do a study of God's covenants. He had a covenant with Abraham. He had a covenant with Noah. He had a covenant with Moses and the Israelites. He now has a covenant with us. Roman chapter 7 and 8 explains His new covenant with us all!! Read them in their whole context. Understand passive, active, verb tenses and who was being addressed in these books.
I won't belabor this any longer. May all of you have peace, joy and blessings that are abundant.

Don't waste your breathe Ennui," Shake the dust from your sandals." When you enter into a discussion with someone that has been "born again" it is like entering an Ecclesiastical Whiteout.
My SIL, God rest her soul, became Born Again after s_x, drugs, and Rock n roll. This was after four marriages. She became lost in her own Ecclesiastical Whiteout and there was no talking sense to her. She stayed with a man that abused her, and suffered a terrible death due to a Fulminating Carcinoma of the breast. She suffered terribly. I tried to get her help to no avail. My husband tried to get her to divorce her husband, to no avail.
Sometimes, you just have to use a common sense in approach to life. My life terms are Balance and Moderation. I learned that from living in the Middle East, where more balance and moderation could help a great deal.
