If you’re flying this week, don’t wear any jewelry! I was wearing a sterling silver watch, sterling necklace, and bracelet, and usual wedding set— nothing much and I set off the alarm three times. Took off necklace first, bracelet second, and watch third. I am tsa pre, too. Then I had to go thru the body scan machine. I have flown with these items before and never a problem. In talking with the agents, the sensors have been made more sensitive,so more is setting them off. So frustrating. Just a heads up!

Thank you!

I believe this is nothing new, nor will it be limited to this week. I flew in Nov. also with TSA pre check, and everyone's shoes were setting off the detectors. Shoes had to be removed.
This seems to be the new normal--heightened security.

We flew in mid-September,wore the same jewelry,no problem. Flew again recently, I had the problem I described first post. From now on,I will put my jewelry in my carry-on. Lesson learned. Agent said sensors were fine-tuned because too much was getting thru, based on a recent inspection.

If I was required to take my wedding set off I would not go. Not going to allow one second for some TSA agent to get their hands on it.
That is just me though. DH is an airline pilot and I do not enjoy flying at all.

I just flew in Friday, also tsa pre-check and had no problems at all with my jewelry.

I am flying tomorrow. I will likely bring earrings and my fitbit. I pack them in my pocketbook and put on once past security. Usually my knee sets off the machine and I have to wait for a female agent to feel my knee. There is nothing in my knee to set it off.

thanks for the heads up! I always seem to have something set off the alarms (full body scan) -- I never wear jeans, just leggings and tomorrow I'm flying -- and carrying my jewelry as my pandoras/Alex & Ani's always seem to set off the machines!
I'm taking the least amount of things right in my VB grand traveler as I'm not wanting to overpack this time!

The last time we flew, my underwires in my bra set off the alarm. The lady had me step over to see what was going on. But I would rather go through what they need to do for our security.

I'm not as concerned with my jewelry as I am with the artificial knee joint I'll have the next time I fly. I'm sure that will lead to a secondary screening. As if I don't hate flying enough already.
