That's probably the best way to go.

You can compare pricing there too.

Instead of a garage sale or going to a local consignment place - the world is your market and prices tend to be higher than if you sell locally.

Please note - QVC's JR is considered fashion jewelry on eBay...prices are not as high as you might like to get!

That's because QVC's JR is fashion jewelry, by any objective standards........

I agree, where most of it's concerned anyway... Some of the silver and gemstone pieces approach fine, but the clad, fake diamonds, crystals, doublets and so on and on and on are clearly not fine jewelry. Putting it in a nice little green box with Ripka's name on the cover doesn't make it fine jewelry, no matter how much some like to pretend it does... Then again, some folks just buy it because they like it and don't really care. That's fine too, but simply because some are willing to overpay for it, doesn't mean they can expect to get a solid return when sold second hand...

Re: I need to reduce my JR Collection

Ripka along with other designers have diluted their brands by selling on Rue La La and others flash sale sites. JR more than others since she pumps items out like crazy. Just look at the Q inventory. That said, I have been a long time Ripkanista, sold hundreds of pieces several years ago, went in another direction, sold that and decided on buying JR2 from the JR Outlets. Pieces I have always wanted. I decided several months ago, I had gone down the rabbit hole again and started liquidating through Delphi and friends. But, the HE pieces (yes, they are fine jewelry with sterling, 18K and gemstones), I needed to go to bayside. I'm offering JR2 items for under 400, less than JRQ yet there is no interest except on the bay. I've taken a financial beating because the only way they sell is super reduced and then there are the bay and pay fees. Everyone wants a deal and I don't blame them. Once JR and other designers prices start getting slashed they continue to spiral down. Just search DY, SK, MD, RLM, even CP, Honora and there are few bids. Jewelry is not an investment, we have it to make ourselves happy. As for mystery metal/fashion jewelry, check out Rivers, KJL, etc and things sell for $9-10. So, buy and wear what you love and enjoy, when or if you tire of it, give to someone or sell and don't be disappointed when you can't sell it or take a huge loss. That's just the way it is. I plan to part with more JR2 pieces but I will wait until closer to the holiday season when people search for giftsSmiley Happy.

Re: I need to reduce my JR Collection

As far as reselling your pieces my feeling is what ever you get is more than you have if the pieces sit in your house which is nothing.

Delphi Forums might be a good place to start,

You are soooooo right. Once I don't want something, all I see is a stack of dollars in the jewelry box. Always better to sell then to keep things you no longer wear. Thanks for mentioning thatSmiley Happy

Re: I need to reduce my JR Collection

Jewelry with cubic zirconia gemstones set in a solid precious metal setting is considered to be Fashion Jewelry according to EBay's rules. And that includes items with natural stones and CZ accents.

What are the guidelines?

To list items in the Fine Jewelry category, both the setting and the stones (if there are any) must follow these guidelines:

Allowed

  • Precious metal settings of 10 karats or higher, silver of 925 parts per 1000 pure silver or more, or platinum group metals of 850 parts per 1000 pure platinum or more
  • Natural stones or stones with the optical, physical, and chemical properties of natural stones
  • Pearls, naturally formed or cultured
  • Diamonds, as long as they follow the guidelines below

Not allowed

The following kinds of items should only be listed in the Fashion Jewelry category:

  • Plated or filled metal
  • The setting is solid precious metal, but the stones are manufactured
  • The stones are natural, but the setting is plated or filled metal
  • The main stone is natural, but the accent stones are manufactured
  • The accent stones are natural, but the main stone is manufactured

Allowed

An estimated 700,000 people around the world, 400,000 of them children, have died so far due to the discontinuation of the USAID program.

Re: I need to reduce my JR Collection

Don't get hung up on that. People don't search by fashion jewelry or plated jewelry, the categories are way too big. They search by Judith Ripka ring, bracelet, whatever, narrowing it down by stone, metal, etc if they get too many results. Also, if you have an item number, some sellers use those.

Re: I need to reduce my JR Collection

As I have stated several times in the past, my Ripka is gifted to nieces, my beloved daughter-in-law, her sister, their mother and my sister-in-law.

It has worked out beautifully! Everyone is thrilled with the pieces and they send pics of their new loves to me so I can see them in their new home.

Not having to deal with selling it works for me. I get to see the joy on their faces which is priceless! Smiley Happy
