Queen of England sure wears a lot of pearls all the time. Guess it doesn't intimidate the people as much as going about with diamonds and gold.

Never seen her wearing colored pearls.

For those of us who will never will meet royalty let alone be royalty there's no need to go for the best and also no reason to limit your search to Honora.  Look up Shelley pearl s on eBay ( ground pearls dipped around a center piece ( liked mine better than my Mikimoto strands) or Mallorca ( famous and fake but real heirlooms). Even Joan Rivers are lovely; no need to spend many hundreds.

They're on all the time on Gem Shopping.  Salt water pearls are more expensive then fresh water, but not that  expensive compared to the cut gems.  They sell 3 kinds. Farmed pearls. those are  Golden pearls from the Philippines, South Sea pearls from Australia and of course Tahitians pearls.  Natural pearls are pearls that are not farmed.  Found by divers.  Those can be very expensive. The price is according to the luster, roundness and size.  Also the less blemishes. The rounder the pearl, the more money it commands. Akoya pearls are cheapest.  Because they are so small.
