This new line of jewelry is set to premier tomorrow night.  QVC says jewelry sales are down and seems to be making attempts to revitalize their line but I don't think Genesi is going to do it.

It's 18k gold CLAD and the designs are so ordinary, I wouldn't give them a second glance.  Hard to understand why they would pick this, especially at the inflated prices listed.

I guess their idea of revitalize means same junk, different name.  I was hopeful and interested so I did a search and when I saw 18k clad I went no further.

This jewelry line is derived from the Italian house of Buccelati. Their items are tens of thousands of dollars-much more than Judith Ripka's couture.  They have never before done anything other than extremely expensive 18k. QVC shoppers purchase Ms. Ripka's 14k clad all the time.  Why so down on this new line, ladies?  You have not even seen it aired.  I actually think it is quite interesting that QVC was able to get them to take a stab at this market.

@kjae  Sorry, but I think the designs are awful, like something my grandmother would have owned.  If they want to give us something new, make it sleek, modern, slightly organic, and innovative.  Having seen tons of jewelry on various shopping channels, our view may be rather jaded but we need to see something new and different.  Also give us real metals, gold or silver but not clad.  Yes, we have Ripa clad and that's enough.

I'd rather watch jewelry made from dog poop than the constant and boring mattress, computer, vitamix, etc shows.

I just looked.  The pieces are pretty but pricey.

I predict this line of jewelry won't make a return. QVC keeps selling clad, overpriced jewelry and just take a look at their sales stats. Perhaps, a new innovative line made of real gold would boost sales. It wouldn't hurt for QVC to at least try.....failure is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

This might be just me, but I think the "clad", "embraced", licked, etc. jewelry in general might be bought more if it was *14K* rather than 18K.  They are two different colors, and to me anything 18K over sterling has always looked like cheap costume jewelry because back in the day, that was the exact appearance of very cheap costume jewelry.

If you wear 14K clad people might well think it was genuine, but very, very few people in the US walk around wearing sizeable quantities of genuine 18K gold, so the instant thought (to me) is fake, cheap and gaudy. Maybe I'm not the only one who looks at "clad" that way.

Having said that, there are a couple of small pieces that, as jewelry design, I wouldn't mind having - but not at those prices. *Maybe* at those prices if we knew how well the plating would hold up, but no one can know that.

@Moonchilde   I agree that 14k clad is much more believable than 18k which is too yellow and looks cheap.

I love this Genesi line.  I think it's beautiful.  I purchased a ring and love it.  There are 2 cuffs I have my eye on.
