@jackthebear wrote:I like the look of the link but not buying anymore "trend jewelry" 3/4 of my jewelry is up for sale only keeping the good stuff
Used to buy it, wear for a few months then into a drawer,
Hi @jackthebear Can I ask, where you have it up for sale? I'm in the process of culling my things as well. I've consigned some already with my local shop I work with, but never get much there, have traded some broken gold pieces for cash, which was great with today's price of gold. But have never done anything like Ebay...and been wondering as I want to put some rings that don't fit well anymore up, and things like diamonique I don't care for anymore, and other things.
I figure, like a greeting card said I once bought: "Life's to short fot the cheap stuff!" anymore...and I have so much pretty, real pieces of my own, as well as things I've inherited from mom and grandmom...wth am I needing cheezy cheap bling for?! lol. Anyway, was curious when you said "up for sale" where you were selling...TIA.

I like the paperclip chain as a fun fashion jewelry piece, and spent about $11 for mine, about 18 months ago. I've worn it as a 24" necklace, and I've wrapped it around my wrist for a layering bracelet look. So I get my money's worth, for as long as it lasts. I would never purchase this style in a necklace or bracelet in precious metal -- too trendy.
QVC is the reigning champ for driving a trend into the ground. They want that very last person somewhere, who never saw the trend before, to buy, buy, buy. They do it for every genre, but especially fashion and accessories.
I am not looking forward to the inevitable tie-dye sherpa cargo joggers in the fall.

Not a fan of the 'Paper Clip' link myself, my hairdresser was wearing a bracelet that she kept calling it a paper clip link that she purchased from the Q, it looked rather nice on her wrist, I looked it up when I got home and she actually purchased J492743 - Adi Paz - 14k Gold Oval Link Bracelet which looks similar to the paper clip link, still I wouldn't be interested.

Paperclip chains - when me and my two sisters were little girls, we used to make chains out of REAL paperclips and put them around our necks.
We were the FIRST to create paperclip necklaces. We certainly missed our mark then to become famous jewelry creators of this so-called new look in a chain necklace.

I do like this look but they're running it into the ground at this point. When it started I bought a nice chain for my wrist and my ankle. Mine are from etsy, daity unostentatious, sterling. Later I went back to the same vendor to buy one for my neck, about 15" that I pair with an emerald cut diamonique pendant. They do look really nice together.

@kelsey17 I think it a fad, a trend and not a classic look. It's all over Amazon and every dept. store faux jewelry line is selling it, too.

I dont like the way they lay on the neck, some links even on models dont lie flat. Not much style or interest to them, just a lot of negative space.

I think that link can look good but it depends on the size and thickness of the links. Too big can make it look masculine and too small and thin can make it look fragile like it could fall apart just by touching it. Paper clip style chains are a trend and they won't be around long enough to call it a classic so I'm not buying one. I like classic.

I have one sterling silver paper clip bracelet I purchased from HSN last year. I also have two different size paper clip gold filled bracelets that I purchased on Etsy.
I really liked the gemtstone paper clip bracelet that aired on Gem Day so I ordered one in citrine.
Too trendy . . . not trendy enough . . . a fad . . . classic . . . not classic . . . who's to say? And more importantly, who cares?
If I like something I buy it. I never think, gee, will this piece be popular in five years?

I bought a smal 14K Paper Clip bracelet from Ross-Simons at the beginning of the style trend. It's delicate but not too small and eye-catching. I receive compliments when I wear it. I don't layer it as the look, in my opinion, would be overwhelmed. Not interested in a necklace but this look works for me as a bracelet.
Nice walk down memory lane, I remember making paper clip necklaces with my friends from real paper clips, too. We thought we were pretty stylish!
