I might be inclined to buy a Vicenza sterling ring with Diamonique, but I wouldn't even consider one made with crystals.

Can you explain why for me?  I know neither stone has much intrinic value, but I really don't know why to favor one over the other --and that's true even though I own some of each!

Re: For the record, Q....

I can only speak for myself but crystal is not made like a CZ to closely resemble a diamond. Crystals are lesser quality than CZ for the most part. I've seen expensive 14K Adi Paz pieces online at the Q that are $300 and up set with crystals which I find outrageous.

There is no way I'm paying high prices for pieces made with crystal when it is a known fact that it looks more like glass, scratches more easily and its longevity is questionable. They are not made with Swarovski crystal either that is known to be of high quality.

Even though both are basically worthless, I think the DMQ was at least made with an attempt to mimic some qualities of a real diamond (refractive properties, etc.)  To me, crystals are just shiny glass.

It's not necessarily that I want to fool anyone, I just don't want the piece to look like junk.

Crystals are glass.  Glass breaks.  Accidents happen.  Enough said.

I wouldn't be inclined to buy either, but diamonique is defiitely peferable to crystals.
