what the heck are self piercing earrings?

I went to a mall and the girl sharpened the stud post and pushed it through my ear. manually. I was too young and stupid to say what the heck are you doing? There were earring guns being used then. They got infected - I took them out. I don't knwo how much later that I went to another place that used the earring gun.

Although I have pierced ears - I rarely wear them. I wore them more when I went to work. I do like how they shimmer and dangle from the ear.

It was a little hoop that pierced your ears slowly. This was in ‘72-73. I need to see if there’s a picture. I remember doing it my self at my first furnished one bedroom apartment. Would never do such a stupid thing now.

I am right there with you, @redwingsgal. I love my hoop, dangle, and drop earrings and would never be without them.

That’s why they’re not straight. I was 19 at the time and obviously couldn’t afford to get them done. That’s in the past. I’m smarter now!😁

Otherwise - small studs. I have a lot of them in different "gem" colors, metals, plastics. Smallest are about 1/8" - largest about 1/2".

I have small ears and tiny earlobes ... just can't handle larger earrings. Plus, I wear hearing aids and rather not have anything showy on my earlobes.

@ALRATIBA I “get” the hearing aids....used to be self-conscious, but through the years, especially my newer ones, have gotten smaller. I just decided to continue to wear my short pixie haircut, large pearl or other studs. I did grow my sideburns a tiny bit longer so I could feather it back over the wire into ear. I did point out (quite delicately), to dh, a pr. of diamond huggie hoops....thought maybe for my birthday, but think this trip cost plenty.
