Lola, my first DY cable is my 7mm blue topaz bracelet. At the time I thought it was a fortune at $550! My husband got me a renaissance cuff with yellow and green stones for $850 one year for Christmas. Thus the love affair began...before the DY and JR era, I was strictly a gold girl back in the 1980s. Have you seen the DY aluminum pieces? Not wild about them, but my 20 year old wants one.

I remember having my husband return the first DY cable bracelet he got me, due to the price, and I was "strictly a gold girl back in the 1980s" too! My wedding rings are still yellow gold with a platinum eternity band. Last time I had them remade, I debated over going to white metal but decided to stay with the original design, but I often wear the eternity band with two of JR's DMQ ring guards as a wedding set.

I did a search, but no DY stainless came up. ?? I don't really care for stainless as jewelry myself. If hard wear or price were an issue, maybe, but not my cup of tea. I often wonder if the younger ones will continue to develop their own style of dress or will eventually come around to the older generation's. Clothing styles are certainly "casual-ing down" (my poor term for it), and I recently read that mens' suit sales are down 40%.

I wish they were in stainless because I think they would wear better...but they are aluminum!! Here's a link http://www.davidyurman.com/search?keywords=aluminum

Re: Anyone Remember This Ring?

And I should add, my daughter is in college in Europe and she dresses up to attend classes. My son on the other hand, is in college in the US (mid-west) and he wears shorts, or athletic pants every day...even in the midst of this horrible winter! But he does have to wear a jacket and tie for "formal Fridays" at his fraternity! But by "formal" they mean no jeans or flip flops.

Well DUH! I didn't "see" aluminum! Aluminum?? Seriously?? And $350?? I'll pass!

Re: Your kids' dress, yes, you can always spot the American tourists when traveling abroad, although I notice Europeans are now adopting the jeans-with-everything style. It seems where we live, "dress up" occasions are now down to proms and weddings. Sigh.

Thanks, spirithorses, newjerseygirl posted that listing earlier in this thread. My ring is size 8 and I think I'll look for guards also in size 8 so they'll be sure to fit the ring (and me) properly. I've had no luck getting any local jeweler to resize JR rings, either.

I think this ring came with a set of ring guards similar to these:

That's right! I HAVE this ring in the mother of pearl pic below. It is a Judith Ripka piece.
