A Question About Ross Simons

Has anyone ever bought any opal jewelry from Ross Simons? I lost an opal years ago and want to replace it. I see one on their website that is so similar in style to the ring I had, but not sure whether the opal is of good quality. Sometimes, they make it look better by colorizing the photo online.

If anyone has ever bought an opal from them, I'd appreciate your review. I've bought a few things from the Ross Simons' website, but have also returned a few things for not being as good quality as I anticipated.

Thanks.

Re: A Question About Ross Simons

I have shopped at Ross Simon's in Atlanta, from the catalog, and on the web. I have been happy with what I purchased and they were very honest on the phone. If you call the store and ask about an item, they may be able to answer your questions and concerns. Good luck!

Thanks, that's a good idea. There are no stores near me, but I could ask someone. I appreciate that suggestion.

You can always send it back if it doesn't meet your expectations.

Be VERY careful that you're buying a natural opal. Synthetic, created and/or man made stone are now much more common than they used to be, and they come by all kinds of fancy meaningless names. Ross-Simons sells both naturals AND synthetics.

Re: A Question About Ross Simons

I decided against the ring. When I called the store, the lady said "Oh, it's not an expensive ring, so the opal will be what it will be." Thought that was very telling. Plus, the size 8 I wanted wasn't available and they would have to cut a size 9 to size. It was a sterling ring with a center opal surrounded by white zircon. It was all I can afford right now, but very pretty It was $125 on sale. With her description, I took that a a sign not to buy it.

Thanks everyone for your input!!{#emotions_dlg.biggrin}
