This is how I've always kept my decorating at check. I take photos of my home inside. Room by room, then I'm able to view them like a stranger. Looks too cluttered? I take some things away. Needs something? I buy/find something to add. My photo taking has really helped with my decorating.

It's such a pretty cabinet and now your roosters, lemons, and center plate really shine. I love it.

While we are on the subject of china cabinets/hutches, I will say that they can be for both display and function, especially when showcasing ones' dishes/dinnerware/serveware/china.
I grew up under the idea that a hutch in a dining room was both for function and beauty.
You were to keep your best dishes/crystal displayed in the top shelves, cabinets, arranged with the prettiest shaped ones on display (like the soup tureen and the cream and sugar, with plates stood behind) arranged sparingly and decoratively.
The drawers and cabinets below were for the rest of the pieces of your service, your silver flatware, and your best linens for the dining table, including table cloths, napkins, and placemats.
We see in many threads here, that people still have these cabinets and hutches, but don't have any more, or want to get rid of the china, crystal, etc, because they don't use it and it takes up space.
The cabinet can then be used either for decor mostly, with the closed drawers and cabinets for storage, or put the everyday dishes in it for ease of access and free up the kitchen cabinets some.
Either way, it is a constant challenge to not over crowd the space, but I think they are such a beautiful and useful piece of furniture, I don't want to get rid of mine, as long as I live somewhere that has a dining room which will accommodate it.
I enjoy changing the dishes/serveware/glassware out for the seasons in mine, and when I want to set a 'nice' table (never had real china and crystal), it is so easy to access the pieces I need, and I'm more likely to use them.
Mine was inherited from my mother when she sold her big home, and I don't expect to ever replace it, simply because of the sentimental value. I see so many that are so very beautiful, including this one @homedecor1, that you have. They are one of those things that I could own several if I had the rooms to handle them! Yep, another obsession in the making!!

I so agree with your post. In my large home I had a beautiful breakfront China closet which always displayed my "Lenox" and changed out by season, i.e., Fall then Christmas. It also served as a beautiful display unit for my Dept. 56 houses (which I had every one - some were displayed on 9ft table in bay window in DR and others were filtered into my Christmas display). In addition, I had a buffet server which also served 2 purposes - server & storage. That is one thing I cried over when I came here but soon I will find something to blend with my present DR.
Sadly, I don't have use for many of the beautiful plates, serving pieces, etc. -- I hardly stay home for holidays - my ❤️ is not into having holidays with strangers, now that my GD is older & understands "family traditions".
My SIL called me today as they are relocating & wanted to know if I wanted my mothers stuff that they have lugged as they've moved 6 times in 8 years for jobs. No I don't but thanks anyway!!!

others said the same - I did take the blue plates &I displayed the rest of the pieces which match the roosters. Then I took those bushes down. Pretty soon I'll be there...even my spouse said "boy did the room grow where did all the stuff go?" Told him took it to my new bff "donation center"!
It's really a work in progress!!!! I did try to drape the greenery garland & got frustrated ...so for now this is going to have to do!
i need a cocktail & lounge chair on the beach🏖🏝🍹
