We have contractors remodeling our kitchen. My house is covered in dust. All flooring, walls and window were removed. We will get new floor (tile), new window (awning style, rather than double hung), new lighting, under the cabinet and "pot" style on ceiling, new walls, new paint, new kitchen cabinets and countertops and new appliances. Oh, and lest I forget, a new bank loan! They have been working for a week. We were told it will be a 6-week project. All my kitchen cabinet contents are in bins, boxes and bags in the dining room. The sink and refrigerator and microwave are in dining room. The old stove and dishwasher are gone. What a mess. I have to keep thinking about the signs I see on the highways during construction season:"Temporary Inconvenience, Permanent Improvement." I hope I can keep my sanity.

I think we all have those stories @maximillian
When they did my kitchen I was washing dishes in my laundry room sink -- and I'm talking take out for almost every meal.
We still laugh that was spouses first and LAST time eating TACO BELL...
It's worth it at the end ... I hired a cleaning company to come in and clean everything after my kitchen and I will do the same after this project. (Although, now spouse has decided he wants master bathroom done).
Think of the wonderful cooking/baking and moments you'll have in your new workspace! Happy cooking!

Thanks for your support. That is a good idea to have a cleaning service work in my house after the project is done. Yes, we have a lot of "take out" meals now. It's okay though; I might actually get to like that side-effect!

LOL, not only would the floors give away intrusion but so would our huge lab!
You guys are fortunate with slab homes. Most homes in the NE area have basements. There are some slabs though.
The creaking is worse when I'm in the basement & DH is busy upstairs walking all over.
Have a nice weekend .. just a few more days until your home looks new!

The tile portion was a 8x8 entrance into the home. The tiles were slowly cracking and lifting -- just a mess. Of course, it had to be removed for the flooring.
As for the kitchen, I had that done a year or so ago. I replaced my old 12x12 tiles (broken and lifted) with porcelain wood like tiles. I do like it but hate the grout lines (eventhough its sealed) - but I didn't know about the waterproof LVP when I did it or I would have carried it through the entire house.
The LVP is waterproof and would be perfect for the kitchen and NO grout lines.
Thank you so much for your reply. I just think of the tile at my parents house. The tile was 50 years old and the tiles still looked pristine. They had no trouble with the tile breaking or lifting.
Maybe it is time for me to change my thinking. Thank you for your sharing your experience.
