💃💃💃 started flooring today!!!

I swear the dumbest things excite me lately...guess because I have no patience to wait and this wait has been a long one😉

My contractor came this afternoon & like "2 ninjas" pulled up carpet thru house...tomorrow will chop out tiled areas and by Monday or Tuesday the flooring will be done!!

Happy Dance ... oh wait, where will I put all my "stuff" since my empty guest room is now my storage shed😉😂😂

@homedecor1

I'd be happy as well if we had our floors all replaced.  We have a 50s home & most of the wood creaks when walking on them.

Gets annoying at times.

Wishing you more happiness once completed.  I'm sure they'll look beautiful.

Re: 💃💃💃 started flooring today!!!

I have carpeting in my master that is over 30 years old...white carpet.  It  doesn't look that bad...it's okay for its age, but it needs replaced.  We were going to do it last winter, but never got around to it.

The other three bedrooms have newer, but not new carpet as does the hall and stairs.  I am unsure if I want to just carpet the master, carpet the entire 2nd floor or change over to hardwood or some other solid surface for all of the rooms or just the master.

@homedecor1  what are you replacing your carpet and tiled areas with?  if I knew what I wanted, I'd be done by now.  I also have conflicting thoughts about all the rooms having the same flooring material or different ones.

I am sure you will be thrilled when everything is done and is nice and fresh and new.

@Carmie

LVP - luxury vinyl planks.  I fell in love with it (and durability) when we toured new housing complex.  I honestly couldn't believe it was LVP in these new homes looks exactly like hardwoods.

Then I had it done in our guest bathroom when we remodeled it. It's so nice no tile grout lines and super easy to clean!

I chose this for the floors:

Hope-pic came up ok my Ipad is "slowly" dying just ordered a new one -- another thing I'm patiently waiting for🙄😉

I hear ya about the squeaking & creaking -- my son lives in a home from the 50s and boy nobody goes unnoticed walking around in his house😉!  No burglar stands a chance 😂😂

I tell him it's character he tells me "drives them crazy!"

Living in FL no floor joists here -- all concrete slabs no basements.😉

Re: 💃💃💃 started flooring today!!!

@homedecor1   Thank you for responding.  I am very interested in these LVP floors.  I have looked at a few I like, but have never seen them on anyone's floor..or maybe I did and thought they were hardwoods.

I have all hardwoods on my main level

I like the floor you have chosen.  Thank you again.  I am going to go have another look.

Re: 💃💃💃 started flooring today!!!

@Carmie

Just some info because I did extensive research.

There are different "grades" of LVP.  The ones you see at Home Depot and Lowe's are sometimes a lower grade (which you can tell from prices). make sure you inquire what the "mm thickness" is.

My rooms are considered high traffic so I got the highest MM (I think it's 12mm) I bought the material from a company which is a distributor for flooring only.

Of course, I'm sure you are the same you research the materials. I hired a licensed, bonded & insured contractor.  (He's expensive but has done all the reno work in my home)

Will post final pictures once I get things back in semi "order" or when they finish.  Hopefully, it will be well worth the wait😉🙂

Re: 💃💃💃 started flooring today!!!

@homedecor1   I quickly looked at some of the floors at different grades.  I know that the best ones cost just about the same as hardwood.

My DH was concerned that they will float instead of being nailed down.  I want something that is easy care, looks great and will last.

My first floor hardwoods are great, but they take a long time to measure, line up and nail down. Then you have to sand and put a protective finish on them.  It takes a long time and you have to get everything off of the floors for about two weeks including the closets.

I would rather jockey furniture from room to room while the floors are being laid than having to drag everything down the stairs and into the garage.

I want convenience and easy.
