Re: replacing interior door knobs

I replaced some of mine. My husband and I replaced some together. Some of them are lever and some are brass, some pewter.

If you are "fancy" you might consider ALL the hardware (latches, screws, plates, etc.) if you want that to match as well.

Re: replacing interior door knobs

my neighbors' 3 year-old figured out the lever handles too...saw him hanging around my front porch....alone...and took him home....his mom was horrified!

Re: replacing interior door knobs

I really like renovaters hardware for door knobs, back stops, and replacement parts. I get the solid knobs, as when I replace I do it once and hope it outlives me. We redid our doors 8 years ago and replaced all the door knobs. I got gold (it has burnished detail trim on the knob, but I wish I had gotton nickle. But I like them, and they are quality, and will last forver. I actually get compliments on the door knobs all the time. They are vintage style.

If I were you I would want to match the house age and style with the new knobs, but that is me.

Gold is still in style, depends on the home style.

Re: replacing interior door knobs

I just hate traditional bronze anything in a home, and I hate shiny gold. Just a thing with me.

I would put in a lever style, in oil rubbed bronze. But, that's me.

My second choice would be brushed nickel.

Re: replacing interior door knobs

Levers are good as you get older in that you can just push/pull. We had to replace my MIL door knobs with levers due to her inability to grasps the knobs. The color needs to match the hinges and door stops unless you also want to replace those. Shiny gold is not as popular now but you should get the color & style that you like and that makes you happy.

The levers slide right up my sleeves........or right into my pockets as I'm walking by, and pull me to a jarring halt

No upside, I mean renovators supply. LOL! That's is why I had to go look, and change the name I had written at first. I get it confused with Restoration Hardware all the time. Then I have to spend 15 minutes trying to look for it. Renovators supply has a wonderful supply of parts for a home. stair railing, kick plates, knobs, back plates, hinges, sinks, toilets that kind of thing.
