Re: going small for Christmas?

@Enufstuff  I think it's wonderful that you have your special tree to enjoy!  Please do share a picture of it after you get it decorated for this year.  šŸ˜€

Re: going small for Christmas?

I use a slim tree now and use sugared fruit that's easily removed and stored. The tree has been up since the day after Halloween. I enjoy it for myself. But, the box with fruit seemed heavier this year, and has to be carried to a back garage.
Next year I might use only a few boxes of older glass ornaments after putting less fruit on for the Autumn season.
Or just in case I feel like a smaller tree I have the same glistening tree in the 3 foot size rather than 7.

I won't need to move a credenza either.

Re: going small for Christmas?

We have a 4 ft. artificial.  It's a good size for DH and I.  We don't have a large space and it's plenty for us to deal with.

Re: going small for Christmas?

Two years ago, I went from a 6' tree to a 7.5' one...and I love it! I have room to space my ornaments out more, so that I can enjoy each one individually. The tree is pre-lit, and hanging ornaments are ALL that I put on it (well, a bow at the top). No tinsel, garland, picks, etc. Last year I put on it only what I really love, and the rest were disposed of. My ornaments fit in a smallish box on the laundry room shelf.

Got rid of lots of other "Christmas clutter" last year, too. Only kept what I really, truly enjoy--and that's not a lot. I don't like packing every surface with decor. As with the tree, I want space between each piece so I can really see it!

I do like this little tree, though, it's so cute!

Re: going small for Christmas?

I have always loved a large tree, and everything about decorating one. It has changed several times over the years, but the excitement I still get after the fuss of getting it "just right', is worth it.😁

Re: going small for Christmas?

I have so many ornaments I started rotating which ones I put on the tree and starting putting some in bowls or my cakestands...it means the tree is finished sooner...but I spend a week hanging a few ornaments each day...

Thank you all for sharing. I enjoyed reading how everyone decorates. We will put up two trees, about six to seven feet tall. When I pack away the ornaments, I might get rid of some. I must say, the small tree pictured by the OP was adorable.

Re: going small for Christmas?

Our living space is now rather small.  At our last house, I had 5 Christmas trees.

I have a tall, slender tree.  It's not perfectly shaped, but more *natural*.  And it's not dark, but a lighter green that goes well with my living and dining room.  I do load it up with ornaments, though.

I don't have much table top space, either.  So decorations will be limited in all rooms.

I will have my tree up for Thanksgiving as I am hosting a small family gathering (just found out yesterday!)

I love how we decorate outside.  That is my favorite part.  Simple, but rather elegant, if you ask me.
