Yes, I still use an ironing board. I needed a new cover and just spent an hour trying to a find a quality one that would reasonably fit my board (14"W x 45"L), which apparently is not a standard size. I wanted one that had the padding attached to the cover, not separate. I was getting so frustrated I was just thinking it may be easier to buy a new board. I finally did settle on one. With all our choices why is it sometimes so hard to find what one needs?

@Allegheny. You said it yourself... your ironing board is not a standard size. Did you try Amazon? They are my go-to for finding the weird and unusual.

When I need something very specific like that, I go online.
I've seen them occasionally at Marshalls/TJMaxx/Home Goods but usually it's just one or 2 and not much choice.
Like you, I still iron and my cover it looking old, so I've been looking at the ones at Marshall's in case one comes in that I like and will fit my board.

I LOVE ironing. My grandmother used to take in ironing from locals and starched and pressed until things were perfect. The extra money supplemented her small social security check. I spent lots of time with her while my mom worked and learned so much from her.
I found really nice padded ironing board covers years ago at Kmart and stocked up. I also put old baby blankets underneath to cushion a bit more.
Nice to hear somebody else still irons things!

@Kachina624 Amazon is always my "go to place" first. I was looking for a real quality cover with specific outer surface and padding so it would last me till I no longer walk the earth.
I did end up purchasing thru Amazon, though I did have to lower my expectations some. I guess I shouldn't be so picky LOL.

Can you use a sewing machine? They're easy to make. I bought some duck cloth from Joann's and watched a video on youtube that showed me how to do it. You use your old cover as a pattern and cut the middle part out, keeping the outer edge and string. Sew the new fabric onto the outer edge and you're done.

I just bought an ironing board cover at walmart. It is very nice...I was surprised!

I feel your pain. There is nothing like needing something and being unable to find it anywhere. Recently I was looking for a hot water bottle. Not to be found in any brick and mortor store. Even the people working in the stores were dumbfounded.
Also, wanted a window shade. Can't find those either.

I bought my last one on Amazon. Not that I iron a lot, but my previous one had that annoying habit of migrating to one side of the board, and it was almost impossible to get it back in position. So out it went.

Exactly. I think my cover came with the board and what is sad I don't remember how long I have had the board; probably 30 years at least. It was shifting, elastic was shot and was stained from using it for various craft projects. When I removed it, surprise, surprise, the board was rusting in a few places. I am sanding it down and am going to respray.
