Do You Have A Decorating Weakness?

Just curious.....do you have a specific decorating weakness?

For me, it is decorative pillows (throw pillows).  I truly feel they can change the look and feel of a room for a minimal cost......compared to furniture changes.

I was shopping today at the new AT HOME store and couldn't help myself.....I purchased new pillows. My husband is rolling his eyes....which he does on a regular basis. Smiley Tongue

PILLOWS!!

I have huge storage tubs of pillows down in my lower level.  I change the pillows out with the seasons!!

Yes, now that you asked!

Mine used to be pillows too.

I just couldn't pass a great pillow but my space is smaller now so there would be no place to put more.

Oh and pretty cups and plates-heaven only knows why as I don't really enjoy cooking but I love drinking and eating off of ones that make me happySmiley Happy

Also candles, but I pretty much go for winter scents, some fall and my favorite of all time which I"d like to have as a staple! is Woodwick's Redwood that smells like a smoky fire. It makes me feel like everythings gonna be alright!

I will get them at 20% off at BBB as a special treat lol!

Re: Do You Have A Decorating Weakness?

I too change pillows with each Holiday and season. I toss them when they get used looking. I buy them at Pier 1...I have been getting them there for many years.

My Lantern addiction seems to have reached a peak and is now on the down slope...thank goodness.

I love regular candle and scents. I don't burn candles in the late Spring and Summer ....I don't need extra heat in my house.

I have a Lolita wine glass collection in my Kitchen Hutch. I get one or two a year as gifts and still enjoy and use them when I entertain or on weekends.

No.   However, I am a stickler for very nice sheets on my bed, nice plushy towels in my bathrooms, and nice dish towels in my kitchen.   I cannot stand worn out linens.

@RedTop-

Oh yes!Me too with the sheets!

I will spend time feeling each and every sheet in the store if I have to to find the right one!

I forgot about that one and there are probably more I forgot about!

My SIL called me this morning and was telling me about how it took her 2 days of shopping to find sheets that she liked. She said she must have felt 1000 sheets...she finally got them at Macys.

I told her to go back and get a back up set ..she said she is going to do just that.

Re: Do You Have A Decorating Weakness?

Well, let's see....where to begin.

Lanterns and flameless candles (and rings and pedestals to go with them)

Dishes/bakeware/serveware/tableware and linens in general. Anything to build a beautiful table.

Linens. Blankets sheets towels (oh so many towels)and throws. Not a throw pillow person though. I find very few that I don't think compete with other things in the room.

Nice wood pieces of furniture. I like both antique and newer. I love the warmth of wood.

Re: Do You Have A Decorating Weakness?

All those who buy sheets by the “ feel “ beware:  that feel  may be the result of a coating that will disappear after the first wash.  It happened to me...trust the thread count and the fabric content.

While I was in college, I worked summers in the textile testing laboratory of a major chemical company.  Coatings can enhance color, tensile strength, water repellancy, etc.
