Not a fan of the yellow, but I do like the lack of contrast for these smaller rooms.  More restful.

Those wall lamps in the dining are asking for it though.  Too low.

way too yellow---maybe in a softer, buttercream shade------

I'm surprised that I like this room, since these are not my colors. It has happy vibes.

It's a small room, so if the built in was a different color, it might box in the room more.

I agree with you, BlueFinch.  With the many other colors and accents present, monochrome treatment of the walls and built-ins seems the right way to go.  And, I find this to be a very happy space!  It would be a nice way to go in my sunroom.

It depends on the size of the room and how many built ins.  This room is small so I think it works better with no contrast, BUT the color is not pleasing to me. A lighter softer color like a buttercream to stay in the yellow spectrum

IMO this yellow is too bright to cover so much area in the room. It doesn't draw me in. If the owner or decorator wanted to keep that color all over, I would tone it down by eliminating that window covering and most of the furnishings. Instead, I'd use mostly ivory in the furnishings & floor covering, and perhaps I'd use some pale sage green accents to also aid in lessening the harsh effect of the bright yellow. A large green plant in an ivory pot in the corner might help.

@lolakimono

It's nice, bright & cheerful.  I'd probably opt for a neutral color for the built-ins for more interest.

I like it.  I love yellow and red together.

Love the built ins but not the  yellow color and would definitely prefer a contrast.  In fact I wouldn't have that wall color at all.
