What is trending right now for window treatments? I have plantation shutters on all my windows and those will always be stylish here in Florida. I thought that shades instead of curtains were "in" but I have some FB decorators I follow and they seem to all be using curtains again. Not drapes - but curtains. I do sorta miss having curtains in pretty fabrics but for sun control and privacy I wouldn't give up my shutters.

I live in Arizona and had shutters and I had wood blinds before that. I would never have curtains, drapes or whatever they are called. To dirty, cat hair magnets, dusty etc. just to much work.

@151949 @Meowingkitty  I have shutters too and would never replace with drapes or curtains.  They keep the house insulated from the heat and always look clean.

I spent a lot of $$ on them, and would buy them again.  If and when I move to a new place, I'll buy shutters for that home too.

I have blinds, top down, bottom up and most windows but  I have fabric 'toppers' to soften the window.

Dining room and living room have no blinds but fabric toppers as well as lace style sheers in an ivory color.  I have never liked curtains...meaning floor to celing, not sure why, I just don't.

If I had Shutters I would keep them.

I have Cellular Shades on all windows with some up/down some not.

I also have window sill length blackout curtains with grommets which are easy to open/close on wrap around rods in the MB so I can sleep.

I don't like drapes of anything formal looking.

I don't follow trends when it comes to home decor.  I do have wooden blinds in all my windows with custom made valances and swags except for the master bedroom.  In our bedroom, I opted for full length lined drapes for added light control and privacy.  I love my blinds even if they are dust magnets.  I like the way I can control light and heat by adjusting them.

Why worry about trends? They come and go.

If you’re happy with the wood shutters just keep them until you aren’t.

@Meowingkitty.  Plus if you live in a place like Arizona or New Mexico, the sun is so intense and plentiful that fabric is impractical.  It readily fades and rots.  Almost nobody has fabric window treatments.

@Desertdi.  We had an intense thunderstorm this afternoon, the first in over a year.  TV said my area got about 1" of rain.  I've been having trouble with my swamp cooler and they just finished working on it when the distant thunder started.  It got so cold in the house I had to turn it off but its still cold because it's chilly outside.  I'm wearing a fleece jacket.
