I would like one with a separate freezer compartment. Is defrosting automatic or manual?
My big refrigerator died and in my area, the counter-depth models I need all have long delivery times. I thought a mini might work until I can replace it.
The minis are not expensive, but I wondered if they actually work like a regular fridge.

I had an under the counter fridge and it worked fine. Don't know about ones with freezers - I imagine the freezer would be quite small.
Doesn't Costco have these items sometimes or maybe Home Depot?

I have a mini 2-door Fridgidare fridge/freezer. The freezer must be defrosted. I've had it about a year and it could use a first defrosting now. It works exactly like a big fridge, keeps ice cream rock hard. I got it at Lowe's. It weighs about 80lbs but I managed to unload it from my SUV and get it in the garage by myself.

Some don't have a freezer, some have a rather small compartment at the top of the refrigerator as freezer space, some look like a regular refrigerator/freezer but small.
DH has a Black & Decker on the patio he keeps beer, gatorade & water in.
He also has an Igloo refrigerator with small freezer space at top of inside of refrigerator at work. If he has a frozen meal to take to work with him he will put it in the freezer space. He said it keeps it frozen but doubt it would for several days.
DH says if he turns the temp up too much on the refrigerator things will freeze.
He froze some beer. LOL!!!
I would think the one that looks like a regular refrigerator/freezer would work just like the larger ones.
Find one you like & search for reviews online before buying one.
They always have them on sale around back to school time.
These are for those Dorm Size Refrigerators. Was not sure if that was what you were talking about or acutally the mini refrigerators I have seen???

I have one in my office at work. Even though it's a pretty decent size, the freezer is tiny. I couldn't fit more than a tv dinner in it. I just use it for drinks. It cools just fine.

I want something that could store a few days worth of frozen meals. Would that be dorm size or mini size?
I have looked at some reviews and they are mixed. One running thread is how often these mini fridges arrive damaged.

@ Montana You should look for a dorm size one. Their freezers are a little bigger. You want a unit that’s about 33 inches high, and is about 3 cubic feet.

@ Montana, I have 2 dorm size. One is a GE with a nice size freezer that works beautifully. The other is a Magic Chef and the freezer only works well if what you put in it is already frozen. It can take up to 4 days to freeze ice in trays, so I'd go with the GE. I got both from Home Depot for about $120.00. Good luck! ![]()

We've had 2. One cube style and the other was a larger 1 door dorm fridge.
Both worked well and I got close to what I paid for them when I sold them. You always have to defrost and I'd recommend putting it on a rubber mat or an SUV mat with a lip to catch any condensation.
HD has a current Magic Chef 4.3cu ft for $199. Special Purchase.

@TenderMercies. @ Montana. I think mine is something like 3.2 cu ft. The freezer is surprisingly roomy. Right now I have in it; 1/2 gal Blue Bell Ice Cream, 4 medium bags of frozen veggies, a small pork loin, 1lb of hamburger meat, a small bag of shredded cheese. I read those reviews about damaged goods before I bought mine. I think they were at Walmart. I bought mine off the shelf at Lowe's and could see it wasn't damaged. It's an attractive unit. There's room for a bunch of TV dinners. Here's an illustration.
