entertaining in the summer months or the winter months?

For me, summer is harder. I know it should be simpler, as that is the way they market it, but when I have people over in the summer, I have all the inside work to do (cleaning, cooking etc.) and all the outside work to prepare for their visit (mow, trim, spiff up flower beds, clean porch and deck really well etc.) as well as the inside.

In the winter in Ohio, there isn't any outside work that needs to be done to entertain, so for me it is simpler. Everyone is going to be inside, so it limits the number of folks I can include compared to a summer event, but it just is easier for me to pull off.

Depglass lol where do you live? In answer to your question OP, summer is more work but more fun. I don't stress too much about the house ... In summer we spend as much time outside as possible. I have also started saying yes to offers of help. Let someone else being dessert! LM

Summer is easier for me because space is not as limited as it is in winter.

I live in the woods of the beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The tundra reference is actually for the Green Bay Packers, we aren't far from the state line.

I agree with the OP, Summer entertaining is more work, but more fun also.

I live in a temperate zone, so I can entertain outdoors most of the year, but I really prefer to entertain in winter. I like winter menus and decorations better. Summer temperatures are too hot for me to enjoy cooking and I don't like to be outside in the heat.
