I have the same problem with DH's work clothes. I've conquered everything except grease and oil. They now have to wear neon yellow safety shirts and those stains really stand out.

I'd recommend Spot Shot. My husband is a mechanic, and my son works in a machine shop, so I see grease. When they do occasionally drag some in, the spot shot takes it right out.

I spray it directly on the stain, and blot with a clean, dry white cotton rag. Nothing colored as it may transfer dye to the carpet. I wouldn't be without Spot Shot.

I've never tried it on clothing, but I think I will just to see how it works.

Many moons ago I washed and DRIED an entire load of denim, which unbeknownst to me contained a lipstick and a pot of lip gloss. I had pink streaks all throughout the load. I called a dry cleaner and they suggested that I take good old Lestoil and a toothbrush, scrub each stain, and rewash. ALL the lipstick/gloss stains came out, despite having been dried, and there was no damage to my clothing.

Lighter fluid plain and simple. Squirt it on and dob it with a clean terry cloth. Keep doing it until the grease is one. My DH tracked road tar through my store on my new carpet a couple weeks ago. Lighter fluid cleans up road tar too! I was still mad though. LOL

Spot Shot is the absolute BEST......I've had it for years. 2 days ago I dumped by accident a pan of chicken teryaki it all went on my carpet I took a damp cloth and rubbed it good then sprayed Spot Shot and voila......nothing. It really is fantastic I keep a can on my stairwell for a just incase.

Spot Shot is good and I really don't know if lighter fluid is better than Spot Shot when it comes to grease.

When it comes to road tar, lighter fluid is better. When I had the road tar, I tried Spot Shot at first. I could see it wasn't doing anything so I had Dh go get me the lighter fluid. I usually use lighter fluid on tar and grease but I was out. The lighter fluid was best on the tar.
