Re: What is your Favorite Style of House?

I'm partial to several traditional styles, @CANDLEQUEEN - and way at the other end, I also like a lot of well-done midcentury modern houses.

My favorite though, because of the storybook aspect and whimsical charm, would have to be Tudor Revival:

The half timbers, the variegated brick, steep roof and a real turret-   love!

Re: What is your Favorite Style of House?

p.s.  Beside Victorian, I've always loved brick houses, too.

English stone reminds me of
'Escape to the Country' tv episodes.  Love those delightful houses.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

I've seen some homes that didn't really have a defined style and wanted them.

I like a lot of windows.

I love rustic most; gothic, carpenter gothic more.  I love Victorian.

Re: What is your Favorite Style of House?

I always wanted to live in a true Victorian.

At one time I thought a Tudor would be nice. The family directly across the street from us lived in one. The house we lived in was a "country Victorian," which she had always wanted!

She told me we could look out our windows at each other's dream house! She became a treasured friend I hated to leave when we moved. (I hated to leave my house too!)

Now our home is a modern farmhouse style.  Smiley Happy

Tudor (fairy tale looking)....love,  Stone cottages,  Victorian.

I'd love to renovate an old stone church with stained glass windows to live in (total dream) or a big old barn....

Re: What is your Favorite Style of House?

My favorite house is a castle!

But, since I am not able to afford the upkeep, I settled for a big old stone Victorian with a tower in historic Philadelphia.

I actually purchased a membership/ownership in this famous castle in France as well.

Château de la Mothe-Chandeniers – Les Trois-Moutiers, France ...

"Co-living and co-ownership are pretty common these days, but this 13th-century castle takes things to the extreme, counting no less than 8,942 owners.

The Mothe-Chandeniers chateau in Les Trois-Moutiers dates back to the 1200s and was originally owned by the Bauçay family. It fell into English hands twice during the Medieval period, and was ransacked during the French Revolution before succumbing to fire in 1932.

Mothe-Chandeniers’ future is finally looking secure, however, thanks to a crowdfunding campaign by Dartagnans, organised with support from the Friends of the Mothe-Chandeniers. The agency – which specialises in crowdfunding heritage projects – has convinced thousands of strangers to dip into their pockets and donate at least €50 to restore the building to its former glory.

In exchange for their generosity, the donors are all now co-owners of the historic castle and over €731,319 has been raised for work to the structure."

Re: What is your Favorite Style of House?

I would love a single story cottage/bungalow, but I also like large windows with views, so it would probably have to be somewhat modernized.  I like most architectural styles, but my least favorite style is modernist/soft modern.
