Sofa table. That is what the manufacturer called it when I purchased mine.

When the back of the sofa is out in the room , not against the wall , people often place a long , narrow table behind the sofa - often with one or two lamps placed on i, and some decor. As far as I know it is called a sofa table.

The ""fancy name"" that keeps coming to mind is ""etagiere"". But that's not a sofa table.

I always called it a Parson,s table.

I think étagère means shelf, but I'm going to go look. QVC's program put the French accents over the word, not me. I took French but I don't remember all the marks. (Its a set of open shelves for small objects.)
