Davenport used to be another name for sofas, so Davenport table sounds right. So does Parson's table (which I'd never heard before).

Yes, an etagiere is an open shelf unit, usually open on both sides. It isn't a sofa table at all. Just wondered if that was the fancy furniture name OP was thinking of.
