My brother in-laws ge washer he no agitator only five years old repair man quoted 900 bucks to fix it. Transmission is already shot. So he bought a new washer. Not sure what kind he bought. Our ge agitator washer will be 6 years old and it is really loud when spinning and clothes are wetter than they used to be. I just wrote on here about under a year old refrigerator repaired twice allready.

I can relate. I had an HE washer and it went out a little over a year. The computer board blew right after the warranty expired.
I have a Maytag washer with an agitator that was bought last May. It spins the clothes so loudly. Just told there is a problem with drum, don't think I'll invest in fixing it.
I was even contemplating buying a refurbished Kenmore washer, bc they don't make machines like they used to anymore

So sorry for all who are struggling with appliances. It is so stressful and so expensive. My turn will come.
At our last house we had Kenmore washers with agitators that were horrible (replaced horrible Whirlpool agitator washers). They sounded like a jet plane and were off balance and banging no matter how you put the clothes in.
Going on 8 years for LG front loader at this house, no issues so far. LOVE them. No bending over and digging wadded up twisted clothes out of the tub.

I bought my GE washer not long after you bought yours. Five months ago it was making banging sounds, wasn't completing the spin cycle, and left loads soaking wet. I replaced it with a Maytag.

From what I have been reading and seeing speed queen washers are the best they make and last a long time and come with much longer warentys. There just expensive but well worth it.

My front loading LE washer & dryer are both 13 years old and still going very well....knock on wood!
However our hot water heater sprung a leak about a week ago. It was only 3 1/2 years old so it was still under warranty (thank goodness!). We got the unit replaced for free but the labor was over $900.00!!

In past years I had appliances that lasted years...good quality...NO MORE! Finally had to replace washer/dryer...went with Whirlpool....mistake! Two years the washer was having more problems than worth it to fix....especially electronics! Maddening. New washer...Speed Queen...more money but worth it! My Whirlpool dryer should be replaced too but putting it off for now. I will replace with Speed Queen. No more junk!
My daughter purchased an LG washer that leaked and caused her water damage in house....NEW too!

I have Whirlpool washer and dryer that are both about 10 years old. So far, knock on wood, they have been 100% reliable - no issues!
