This thread made me smile and laugh because eventually I'm going to have to do this.
15 years ago we remodeled our house and we're now ready for another update. I look at some of the things I did, and wonder, what was I thinking? especially the wallpaper. OMG, what WAS I thinking?
About the only room I wouldn't change in regard to wallpaper is my kitchen; I love chickens and the wallpaper in the kitchen (which also is small and I wanted to keep the color in there light, to avoid making it look small and dark) has a poultry/farm theme that I like. A friend of mine who saw it for the first time, exclaimed, "It's so Italian!" (can you guess she's Italian?)
I'm going to save this thread when the time comes to strip off my wallpaper. Thanks for the information.

Many years ago, QVC sold a wallpaper remover product that came in sheets. You soaked them, put them on the wall, waited for a while, and then peeled the paper off. It was fabulous. Unfortunately, I loaned it out and never got it back. Maybe they have something on the website.

I have learned a wallpaper lesson the hard way:
properly prepped walls= easy WP removal
Improperly prepped walls= new dry wall.
I had a room in a previous home that had improperly prepped walls and after trying every product and tool I gave up and hired a professional.
After an hour they were packing up and leaving, I was thrilled, I thought they were done. They told me to save my money and plan on having new drywall put up to cover the wallpaper or replace the current drywall.

Oh my gosh what a story! what did you end up doing?

We had a lot of wallpaper in our house in the 80's and 90's. When I decided to take it down I hired a handyman to do it. Cost like $50 per room and he was quick & efficient. I figured I could work a shift OT - make a lot more money than he was charging me and the work was a lot easier than stripping wallpaper.

@FuzzyFace - we have wallpaper in our kitchen and when we were painting the whole interior over the winter my husband asked me if I wanted new paper in the kitchen. I told him I didn't because I love it and searching for new can be so overwhelming.
