The "Panoply" blogger created a Christmas table that she said was inspired by a "forest fantasy" theme--  so pretty.

She shared images of some of the various elements she had on hand to produce that magical winter forest feeling:

Here is the table she came up with:

Plaids and tartans of all kinds are favorites of mine.  Her chargers made of vines are bringing in more of that magical forest atmosphere....

I love her top-hatted forest creatures, and her vintage Pierrot-like figurine that she's incorporating.  Gives me a feeling of a sophisticated, Gatsby-like New York dinner party in the Twenties!

Little winter birds are always a plus.

On her dining room shelves, love her plaid Christmas balls, her nativity set, and the miniature leather books (on the shelf with the open wooden box.)

Also love the simple elegance of her fireplace area....

Re: WOODLAND WINTER TABLESCAPE

This is such an elegant tablescape without being stuffy. The chargers are so pretty and unusual.

I love the green goblet, maybe Depression glass?

The plaid accents make everything pop. Couldn't imagine Christmastime without plaid.

I love the table setting it has an old world charm. I would be very happy to sit at that table and enjoy Christmas dinner. I can feel the warmth that fire radiates from here.

@Oznell

Such a lovely fantasy setting!

When I see such things, I often wish I knew the type of people that would appreciate them Cat LOL

I believe I've told you this story, but in my entertaining days, I had the table set with Chargers and had other plates for food on my buffet.

Several guests picked up the Chargers and loaded them down.  Must have been silently thanking me for the extra big plates Cat LOL

Anyway, it's always fun to see a beautiful table and imagine I'm a guest at one of these divine events.

Re: WOODLAND WINTER TABLESCAPE

What a clever idea w/ the chargers. I love that idea and may do my own version using them as holders for the food I place out for our Christmas brunch buffet. And I love the plaid. Thanks for sharing the pictures

Love the fireplace photo.  Understatement can be a plus -- even (and sometimes especially) at Christmas.

I find appeal in all the decor and especially love the plates!!  It is warm and inviting and has an intimate feel.  Very nice!

Oznell, I received my rooster butter dish that you pointed out in a post.  It is lovely, well made and decorative!!!  Thanks for the heads up.

Re: WOODLAND WINTER TABLESCAPE

Ha, ha, I hadn't heard your charger story before, @Witchy Woman --  that is cute!  These particular chargers would eliminate the problem of people thinking they were regular plates, because once you tried to load food on them, it would just fall through!

I agree with everyone who responds to this kind of magical woodland mystique-- it makes you want to dine, be merry and be drawn into the whimsical, retro "forest fantasy".....

Oh, I'm so glad you like your rooster butter dish,  @spiderw !   Mine hasn't arrived yet, so am glad to hear it is a quality item.  My other "free shipping" order, the 3 Temp-tations green floral lace pitchers, did arrive and I'm thrilled.  I'll use them to serve sauces, etc. later-- but right now I've got them ranged on top of my living room cupboard, with festive lacquered red woven balls on top of two of them, to serve as impromptu red-and-green Christmas decorations....
