Beautiful @Oznell! I was just thinking the other day about how little I decorate based on trends. I loved Laura Ashley when it was popular in the 80's and 90's and "Victoria" Magazine influenced my choices. Embarrassed to admit, I still have a living room couch with a subtle floral print... matching chair, mahogany wood furniture.

I love it when people march to their own drumbeat in decorating, @Trinity11 !

Although I tend more eclectic, Lory's "ethereal" leanings echo some of mine.  Chalky pastels, never too saturated, appeal to me.

Her winter look inspired me to pull out a few things -  I have a vintage child's Art Deco style rocking horse planter, in pale blue--  an exact image of which I found online:

Deciding not to wait for spring, I've put him out, but stuffed with some evergreen sprigs, and persimmon pods.

He looks cheerful and pretty, despite wintry landscapes outside...

Then, I shopped my house for my twin ring handled celadon vases, and grouped them closely on my coffee table, with a modern glass cube tealight votive, and my old brass bowl filled with pine sprigs and pine cones...

I couldn't find an *exact* match online to my simple ring handled jars, but these are not too far off:

Soothing pale blues and greens always seem to appeal to me, year round.

@Trinity11 ,  I meant to add in my post, that your living room with its soft floral print, and mahogany furniture, sounds so pretty and right up my alley....

Re: WINTER DECORATING

[ Edited ]

A lovely look. Perhaps a tad frosty for winter deccor, but very pretty. I used lilac, pink/rose, cream and silver a lot this season adding warmth with a few other accents.

Icy pastels are beautiful, but not something I'd use in our home. With beige, brown and some burgundy accents, it wouldn't look right. Next week, I'll remove the Christmas decorations - the snowman stuff will stay out for all of January.

@AuntG

Same here. I think the icy pastels are very pretty, but they wouldn't mix well with the warm paint colors and furnishings in my home.

I love these colors! So pretty but my decor for winter is blue and white. I use a lot of candles, snowmen, polar bears,  and Waterford with bright white string lights. This is the only time of year I use the bright white ones. The Waterford just takes my breath away when the white light hits it.

I think these icy pastel colors are very pretty, but they wouldn't work with the warm paint colors & furnishings in my home. Sometimes I think I would like to switch out and try something very different, but I know my husband doesn't like pastels.

Other than Christmas, I don't do a lot of seasonal decorating. I have different pillows and throws on my furniture for Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer, and I have a few different tablecloths and placemats. but overall, there aren't a lot of seasonal decorations in my home.

I don't decorate based on trends either. Our homes should reflect our likes and lives, and not what's on trend. JMO. It would be very expensive to update furnishings regularly.

I've changed paint color and accessories over the years, but I never embraced the grey color trend that was popular for awhile. We have warm colors and furnishings that were more popular in the past. We still have a curio cabinet, TV armoire, and a china cabinet. I'm sure some would say those items are outdated.

These are really nice. I like to keep everything pretty bare after I pack away the Christmas decorations, then bring back things a little at a time. I'm fighting getting out my spring things, winter has arrived here and they just don't look right. I would like to find some nice candle rings for my battery candles just to warm them up a bit. Valerie needs to come up with some late winter decorations to get me motivated!

Thought this winter room from 'shabbyfufu' belonged on this thread, b/c it has a similar, soft pastel French-y feeling to the earlier ones.   I love the chandelier, the architectural salvage, the taper candles in a basket, and that she painted out the chalky mirror--
