Even though I hate emptying the container, I prefer bagless.  I was continually running out of bags, forgetting to buy them or not finding the ones I needed.  Plus, there is more expense.

@Dusty1  I also have the Shark power lift-a-way.  It is the best vacuum I've ever had and is so much better at picking up dog hair than even the Dyson animal ever was and at about 1/2 the price.  There is a slide on it to increase or reduce the amount of suction, and I have to reduce it or it would pull the fibers out of my wool rugs!  Hands down, the best vacuum available for any price, IMO.  I got mine on the Q but they are available at Target and other retailers, and goes on sale occasionally.

I bought a cordless, bagless vac at Costco and LOVE LOVE LOVE it.  Its a Hoover Linx.  My cleaning lady liked it so much that she bought one too.  Lightweight, and POWERFUL.  It does a great job on tile and carpet.  The battery comes out to charge (only every few weeks) so I don't have the entire vac plugged in to the wall.

What I don't like about bagless vacs is the dust that flies all over when emptying.  Now I empty directly into a plastic trash bag and close it up.  That helps contain the dust.

I swear by my Dysons.  I had Kirby's prior but they just got to heavy to push around the house. I always have dogs that shed 24/7 and the Dyson really does hold up to the pet hair, etc.  I was never a fan of bagless until I got the Dyson. I had bagless Hoover and it just kept getting clogged.  I like the washable filters and the snap on attachments.  You pay a little more but it lasts for years. Works on all of my florr surfaces.
