VALANCES FOR A FEW PENNIES.....

Posted tip under Queen bedskirt thread, but thought it 'd be worth reading under "valances".

suggested to a friend who needed many valances for her family's shore house that she take advantage of BB&Beyond's clearance plus additional 33 and1/3 % off sale on king size bed skirts and make her own.  She's quite handy and very creative: figured a way to do it without sewing.  The skirts ran approx. $6 and made several single width window valances.  I found enough and the helpful CS folks at one store called around and had them sent to me free shipping !!  ( The color was dark chocolate )

For the row large bow Windows, she draped extremely long dark chocolate window scarves-- a bargain for a few $'s.

Hope this helps others who want valances without the high costs of ready mades !!!!

Thanks, but it's hard to imagine how she did this without sewing.  I should be so handy!

From what I see here in my area the only kind of window dressing anyone is using are either shades - like honeycomb shades or blinds or shutters. I haven't seen a curtain or drape or valence for ages.

Instead of sewing she used fabric glue.
