I prefer functional.  There is no occasion to sit in the foyer-really.

Hmmm, maybe if they were to tone it down, make it MUCH LESS formal looking.  

 

It looks as though it's from an old time Hollywood movie.

The wood flooring and staircase are beautiful but that's about all I like about this area.

This was my thought, too.  Too much dust collects in tufted chairs and headboards.  It's almost impossible to vacuum the dust.  I don't like the way the one pictured looks either.
