We have a very small dining area, and other furniture I won't part with in there too, so we have a round table in the dining room. It is a pedestal, so never an issue with fighting legs, and two leaves to extend it to oval should we need more seating. 

 

I've always had four chairs around the table, but recently have been playing with the idea of just using two. There are only two of us here now most times (I do have a total of 6 chairs for when the table is extended) and the space saving by only displaying two chairs, and the uncluttering of the look and feel of the space is something I've been thinking about doing. May try that some time soon.
