Sticky Residue Left By A Sticker

Hello Q Friends,

I am not sure this is the right place to post this ? but I am so very desperate, please forgive. xo xo

You know those size stickers mfgs put on jeans for the stores? I delayed in hemming some jeans and am just now getting to it. I removed that sticker and now there is a sticky residue and a dark stain.

Does anyone have any ideas how to remove that residue and get the stain out. I hope that I don't have to go out and buy a new pair.

Thanks so much!!!

With Heaps of Appreciation!!!!!!!!!!

I've had that problem also, and I think I used Pine-Sol; just don't rub too hard because not sure of the color fastness (is that a word) of your fabrics. You may also want to try straight dish soap, laundry detergent or prewash spray. If it was a solid surface, I would tell you Goo-Gone or peanut butter. Goo-Gone will get unwanted stickers off of paper without damaging them. Good for scrapbookers. Before you try anything, you might want to research it on the internet.

Isopropyl alcohol works very well for this. If you have any kind of gentle scrapy thing, just get some alcohol on there and then scrape scrape scrape.

Well, I have to say that I've used this primarily on hard items - not fabric. But I don't see any reason it could hurt on fabric and should work as well.

Hello!

WSfan...yes; color fastness is a term! You won't believe this, but I have a degree in Fashion Merch, so I know that exists and yet don't know how to get this stain out!!

Chickenbutt.....thank you for the tip, will give it a go on a scrap piece of hem to see what happens to the fabric. I fear that the adhesive has permeated the fabric and never truly will come out. Hey; still cooking up some of your recipes you left on the Swap!

Thanks Thanks Thanks!

Would this help? Heloise seems to always say "Try vinegar". Try it, it won't hurt the material.

I wonder if you couldn't use GooGone which is made to erase that sticky residue. It's a liquid.

Did you try just washing them and hanging them to dry? I would try that, first.

I think that washing and then drying them may set the glue forever.

Finger nail polish remover with acetone and a gauze pad.
