Does anyone have stamped concrete in their home? We are going to put it in our downstairs and I was wondering what pattern looks the best?

We are going to have it stained a gloss black. We are doing all the rooms down there in black and white.

Thanks for your ideas.

I've never really heard of using stamped concrete inside a house (basement)! I've seen it used on patios and love the look. We thought of having our patio in stamped concrete but opted for slate instead. Good luck on your endeavor.

Are you going to be using it for your floors on your first floor? (I've heard of concrete counters but not floors except for patios.) It might look great....I don't know but I would think of how it could affect resale at some point down the road. It might make it a hard sell.

I may be a little confused. I have never heard of it being used inside. But I think it would be cool. We have ours on the patio. It is done in a random , different size slate look. A charcoal blacklish under with a Verdi acid wash over. Everyone loves it. My brother in law has his sidewalk done in stamped concrete too , in a traditional brick pattern.

We put in a pretty caramel with muted dark brown floor........with a diamond pattern about 10 years ago when we built our home. I love it.......Easy to care for with our 2 dogs but also beautiful. The shine is nice........have large rugs in the living room, dining & master bedroom down stairs. ...........carpet upstairs. ...........In the south where I live these floors have been popular but in colder areas unless you install heating elements underneath the floor it might not be a good choice........

SGH,

We have it on the outside of our home and we love it.

My nephew has it in his basement/ family room on his lower level (directly on the ground) and they had to carpet over it because it was so cold in the winter. It did look pretty but it really was cold. We were there at Christmas before the carpet was laid and it was freezing on the legs..plus they said they had to keep the heat up higher down there to stay warm.

Thanks for your posts. We have been gone on vacation and that is why I haven't reported back.

We are putting AC and heat unit downstairs so we can control the temperature on the downstairs. So we will have two different units, for one the upstairs and one for the downstairs.

We will put large area rugs.

I still have to decide what pattern to pick.

The man that is doing it said that he had never heard of someone doing inside. I guess time will tell.

Thanks again.

I would love to have it but I would only consider it if I was able to have infloor heating.

My niece put in floor heating in a family room addition to her home - the first month they used it the electric bill went up $700. They now use the fireplace and electric heaters instead.
