Question for Dyson DC25 Owners

Hi. I'm wondering if anyone is having the issue I'm having with my Dyson upright. On the handle that is held to push the vacuum, there's a plastic cap that opens up to release the wand for vacuuming ceiling fans, etc. This always stayed closed until I flipped it open myself to get the wand extended. Now, it doesn't stay closed at all. It stays popped open with the wand extending out of it. I've looked at what could be causing this to happen and I find no answer. I push the wand back in and it pops right back up. Does anyone know what might be causing this and how I can fix it? It's a real pain that the wand stays popped up through the handle. Thanks in advance.

Re: Question for Dyson DC25 Owners

Hi! Two of my Dysons are DC25 and I haven't had this happen. But here is what I would suggest - Call Dyson and they will gladly help you. They are absolutely THE best. I've had questions and situations over the years since I have had them and every time I called they were able to help me to complete satisfaction.

Re: Question for Dyson DC25 Owners

There should be a 5 year warranty, so check to see if you are within that timeframe. If you are, call Dyson and they will either tell you how to fix it, or they will refer you to a service location in your area.

I had to take mine in several times for service, before I dumped it and bought a Shark.

Two Dysons in 8 years was just a bit much.

Re: Question for Dyson DC25 Owners

Had something very similar happen this summer. Had to keep my finger on the plastic tab that held the two parts together-- very difficult. In another post I mentioned that when I called Dyson CS I was told that they used plastic in the tabs to keep the " weight " down. REALLY ??? Since I was within the warranty period they'd send me the fix free: it was the whole front upper end of the machine !!! Said I must have dropped the machine to cause the tab to break: never ever happened. Now it works fine but I was really annoyed with that individual. For the price of the machine, I expected better service. Good luck !

Re: Question for Dyson DC25 Owners

I'm pretty happy with my Dyson but that whole contraption to use the extension is the biggest pain ever. The vacuum always falls over and it wants to pull back in and not stay extended. I ditched it for that purpose and bought the portable Shark (can't recall what it's called right off the bat). Finally bought a Roomba, lol, and my husband looked at me like, how many vacuums do we need?? Does anyone use the Dyson tools without a problem? Is it just me? I do have back issues.
