Spring

I just love when Spring comes and everything is in growth mode. Our trees here in Fl. stay green all winter but by late winter the leaves are so dark green they're almost black. Then all of a sudden the new leaves pop out in bright spring green and everything is growing , flowers are blooming & it all is coming alive.

When we moved here 8 years ago they planted a tiny lopsided ugly little oak tree in our backyard. My DH has nurtured that tree carefully feeding and watering thru the dry season and trimming it on one side so the growth on the other side could catch up.This spring that little tree is now about 20 ft tall, symmetrical and has just almost overnight come out with it's gorgeous spring leaves.All DH's work has paid off big time as that tree is so pretty, shades our lanai in the afternoon, and is a real asset to our garden.

Spring is my favorite time of year when everything comes alive. That won't happen until early May around here. That's great the tree is thriving.

Spring is my favorite season and we have such a beautiful one in Florida. Everything is so green and gorgeous.

I'm beginning to believe that for man of us in the country this year, spring will never come. We will just go from winter to next fall! LOL

No spring for most of us in the Midwest! February was fairly mild, but March hasn't been very nice to us! I've seen some hyacincths and daffodils peeking above the soil, but with temperatures in the 40s it will take a little longer for us. At least our snow and sleet from last week has melted! Looking forward to April!

Our nights are still in the 20's so Spring is still a month away. I've often wondered about trees and plants in warm climates. If you plant something simple like petunias and marigolds, do they grow on and on for years? A deep freeze is what kills mine.

Petunias will grow for quite a while but eventually become quite leggy. The summer sun is generally too much for geraniums and the leaves fall off though the plant is still alive. When fall comes it will come back to normal.But isn't very pretty in the summer.We usually take ours out for the summer & put new ones in the fall, both geraniums and petunias. We have an abundance of tropical plants growing here that thrive in the summer heat like hibiscus.
