I love my Speed Queen-about 3 years old I think. I got the one that doesn't lock when you start it. In case you forgot something and want to throw it in it's NOT LOCKED!!!   Why in the world  would they even have a model that locks?? SO stupid IMO.

@Eileen in Virginia The TC5 model is for people with very dirty laundry.  It has a true agitator and only has two water levels.  The TR models are for people who have normal laundry concerns.  The TR models were tweaked in late 2019 for better performance, and more recent reviews tend to be good for the TR models.

You have the TC5 model.  The TR models lock, but to unlock them, all you have to do is press pause.

The last washer I bought was a Whirlpool commercial washer; the heavy duty ones found in laundry mats.  No bells and whistles, full fill and perfect for me.  I will stick to commercial grade washers going forward.

My Whirlpool is still working, but it's 19 years old, so I thought I'd get a Speed Queen when we have to replace it.

My Bosch front-loader is 16 years old and still working perfectly.  I won't replace it until it dies on me.  I would love a top-loader but, as far as I know, Bosch doesn't make them.

When the time comes, I'll think about what to get.  Some friends were pretty p-o-ed, when their less than 3-year-old Maytag had a major failure (not covered by warranty; no idea why).  They had it fixed, but a few months ago replaced it with a Speed Queen, as recommended by the repairman.

I'll see what they think in a year's time.  (I had told them, based on my awful experience with Maytag not to get one, but they did anyway.  Maytags are not even close to what they used to be.)

I bought my Speed Queen washer and dryer in 2016 and I absolutely love it.  The only downside I can come up with is the tub is little smaller than other brands.  However, it works for me as I'm only one person and it's plenty big for what I need it for.  If you have a family you might want to consider something else.

The other thing is, my clothes are now clean, clean!  I love having an agitator again.  I had a Samsung previously. It was a top loader with a huge drum, but no agitator or propellor.  Within a couple of weeks, I knew I made a big mistake as my clothes started looking dingy.  When we moved, I left it for the new homeowner.  LOL!
