I'm currently working on some lightweight, free-flowing summer dresses. These are very easy and fun to make. As soon as they are completed, I'll start some skirts and jumpers for back to school. I always have to have something new for back to school. Happy sewing everyone. I've also been knitting scarves, hats, and gloves for needy children in our community. docsgirl

It's a DIY project from a thift store teapot. It wouldn't be difficult to replicate!

She traced the inside of the lid onto a piece of heavy cardboard, and cut it out. Then cut a square of cloth, a ball of fiberfill. Laid the fiberfill on the cloth then the cardboard and gathered it up holding it in place with a rubber band. Trim extra fabric and push it into the lid - if it fits well - glue it in place. Then you can store your pins in the teapot and use the lid as a pincushion.

I don't usually post on the home board but saw this thread and thought I'd post.
I am working on a tee shirt quilt for my son. I have tee shirts from his elementary school years to his college year (he withdrew after a year) and shirts from several 5k's he ran during those years. So far I have all the shirts cut, the sashing cut and the corner squares cut. I need to start the actual sewing now.
I've never done anything like this before so it's a bit daunting. I figure I've already destroyed approx 30+ shirts so I don't have anything to lose.
I think I've decided to back it with fleece. I saw a quilt with a fleece back and it really turned out nice. I hope to have it done by the fall.

T-shirt quilts are sooo much work because you have to stabilize each t-shirt so they don't stretch as you sew them together.

Yes that did take a bit of time to do but it definitely helps to keep it from stretching.
