Re: SUGGESTIONS FOR NEW WASHING MACHINE PLEASE

We just bought a Whirlpool Top Loader with no agitator.  I believe it's the Cabrio line.  It's white.  It's HUGE inside.  Has the top you can see thru.  No knobs but touch screen.  Has so many options on it.  I absolutely love it!  Bought it at PC Richards.

Did you try calling the Speed Queen company? Maybe they can help you get the 2017 models. I spoke with my local store today about my delivery, & they said the 2018 models won't ship for 2 more weeks. They still have 2017 in stock.

Btw, I bought the non-computer models....that's what I wanted.

I called the SQ company a few months ago to ask some questions. That's when the sales associate told me about the new 2018 models. The ONLY reason they had to change was because of gov. regulations- they had no choice.

The new models may still be a 1000% better than the other garbage brands on the market.

Good luck- keep us posted.  Smiley Happy

It's all the government regulations ruining our appliances.  When an individual can't determine for themselves how much water to use in their washing machine in order to clean their own clothes, that's a sad day.  I have 2014 Speed Queens and wouldn't give them up for anything!

@sueeich

I conducted an informal poll at work and asked people about their washers.  My HE washer recently died and I wasn't devastated because, frankly, I never liked the thing.  When I heard my coworkers curse their HE washers I wasn't surprised.

Good intentions and all that.  I support conserving water but, after living with an inefficient HE washer and hearing my coworkers say that they have to use three rinse cycles to get the residue off their clothes, how are we actually saving any water?

i had and he top loader and i would get that white residue on clothes and found out it is due to esing to much detergent.once i got use to using less i didnt have any residue any more. you only have to use detergent on line one or alittle less.

@Pooky1

I cut back as much as I could on the detergent and gave up fabric softener entirely -- and I still had the residue.

New washer arrived yesterday.  Fingers and toes crossed.

I wish I had asked on the boards about washing machines earlier.  I got in too lae.  But, that being said, I saw a 2017 model in a showroom.  They couldn't order one for me other than a basic model or middle model I believe.  There was no matching dryer available to order.  The only thing I didn't like about it was the agitator.  I wouldn't be able to fit my kind down comforter in it.  That's why I'm probably better with this Maytag.  We may move in the next 5 years anyway.  I'll leave these appliances more than likely.

Re: SUGGESTIONS FOR NEW WASHING MACHINE PLEASE

I don’t like the energy saving features on the newer washers. I have learned to override them on my top loader.

When it doesn’t want to fill the water to a higher level I turn and hold the button that shows small, medium and large to beyond the large load size and it will keep filling up. As it is, it only fills up maybe 3/4.

Also, when I want hot water to wash towels or bedding I want hot. The energy saving feature doesn’t allow that and automatically adds cold water to my hot loads. So then it’s warm, not hot. Even though it’s inconvenient,  I have been turning off the cold water behind the washer. Then when it’s done washing and ready for the rinse cycle I make sure the cold water is turned back on.

I don’t like that they’ve decided how much water I’ll use and how hot my water can be. Glad I got around that.
