Did you try calling the Speed Queen company? Maybe they can help you get the 2017 models. I spoke with my local store today about my delivery, & they said the 2018 models won't ship for 2 more weeks. They still have 2017 in stock.

Btw, I bought the non-computer models....that's what I wanted.

I called the SQ company a few months ago to ask some questions. That's when the sales associate told me about the new 2018 models. The ONLY reason they had to change was because of gov. regulations- they had no choice.

The new models may still be a 1000% better than the other garbage brands on the market.

Good luck- keep us posted.  Smiley Happy

Thanks for the info.  I called all the retailers listed on the website for cities within 100 miles of where I live.  NO 2017 models.    The 2018 models, from what I've read, are no better than any other brands like Samsung, LG, Maytag, etc.  I've been reading reviews--a lot of people in the industry who have tested the 2018 models--not yet released to the public.

Thanks though.  I may call Speed Queen today.  I have to cancel my Maytag today if I can find a 2017.  Time is running out.  My washer will be delivered Friday.

Re: SUGGESTIONS FOR NEW WASHING MACHINE PLEASE

I bought Whirlpool laundry pair from Home Depot a year ago---They are HE but mid range in price and what they can do. I dont need a ton of bells and whistles. I spent $1000 for both of them--more for the washer of course and so far, I am very happy with them. And while they don't have a make coffee cycle--Smiley LOL I have many cycles that I use often. My last set was 17 years old---so I got my $$ out of them.

Re: SUGGESTIONS FOR NEW WASHING MACHINE PLEASE

I can only recommend a speed queen and only if you can find a 2017 or older machine with the old school agitator action.   Honestly, I have watched the youtube videos of the new 2018 speed queens and it looks like a real dog of a machine now.  I wouldn't want it myself if I had to get a new machine.

Re: SUGGESTIONS FOR NEW WASHING MACHINE PLEASE

kivah get tongs (maybe dollar store) and keep them next to washer so you don't have to reach down. I am short too but taller than you. I am able to reach down but on my toes, soon I will get the tongs.

Re: SUGGESTIONS FOR NEW WASHING MACHINE PLEASE

I got a GE HE washer with agitor, I want an agitor and 3yrs ago only GE HE had them in the washer. Hate when the top locks & we find a sock or something & can't open it. I like it to me an agitor really cleans most HE doesn't have it. I will say it's loud but I wash at day time so I don't care. My friend got a samsung washer & a recall but she still has problems with it. Please stay away from samsung, they are only good with TV's.

Re: SUGGESTIONS FOR NEW WASHING MACHINE PLEASE

Just buy a Speed Queen and be done with it.  I bought a washer and dryer a few months ago and every single time I use them, "I love my new washer and dryer" runs through my mind.

I bought the non-digital type also so that there is less chance of needing repairs.  The ONLY thing that I don't like is that the dryer doesn't have a bell or anything to let you know when the cycle is finished.   Not a big deal but would be nice.

I love my Speed Queens !!!!!

Thanks.  But, no 2017 models.  The 2018 are crappy.  I bought a Maytag.  I like it already.  I love I can wash a king comforter.  Enjoy Your 2017 SQ.

Re: SUGGESTIONS FOR NEW WASHING MACHINE PLEASE

I hardly ever post, but saw this question and needed to share.  I highly recommend a Miele.  It is a front loader though.  It's an investment - but will last twice as long as an inexpensive one and worth it.  It is smaller than what is out on the market but it cleans clothing beautifully!  It has handwashing, delicate, wool (I wash all my cashmere and wool), silk, sanitize (my favorite for towels It actually heats up the water) and lots more cycles.  It's weird when you start using it because you don't have to tell the machine what size the load is because it figures it out for itself.

Tip #1: When you are done, leave the door open.  I never close mine.

Tip #2: I use 1 tablespoon of Persil per load... but don't get the cheap Persil they are now selling in the stores.  For years I bought the German stuff from Amazon.  Expensive but you don't use much so it really last and lasts.  I made the mistake of using the American stuff and my machine started to smell and a pink goo started to grow in my detergent compartment.  I went right back to the German formula. I get their special pink stuff for my wools and cashmere.

My machine is now 10 years old and besides the pink slime incident it has performed so well and going strong.  I hope for another 10 years out of it at least.  My boss had his for 20+
