Rustic works for me. It reminds me of some TX hill country homes I've visited.  Actually, a lot like my brother's home in Austin.

This definitely is a rustic room!!!!!  I love the ceiling and the spaciousness of the room.  The fireplace is appealing and the furniture fits the style!  Very nice.

I like this room; very warm, colorful and comfortable.  A room you could kick back in, sprawl out and enjoy

The space feels dark to me.  The furniture is unappealing as well.

I do like this room.  It reminds me very much of my great room before I lightened it up (which I am still working on).  We have that big wood vaulted ceiling in that color and my walls are that same off-white. We also have a picture window.   My goal has been to lighten and brighten my room as I feel it's too dark.  We bought a cream sofa that is kind of a casual basket weave look with a slight amount of tan in it. I am still experiementing with burnt orange, and cream, and tan pillows. Also experimenting with blue pillows.  It sure has made a big difference. Since I have a fair amount of traditional pieces I'm trying that 80/20 decorating system and am incorporating some decor items with some shine or glaze (thanks @Oznell for that tip.)  It's working!!!  It's been challenging because I would call my room...a little bit farmhouse, a little bit traditional, and a touch of colonial.

When I looked at this room, though nice, something seemed off - and clautrophobic to me.

Then I figured out what was bothering me.  Though a little thing the heights of the windows and the sidewall are off.  And, though it's caused by the roof slope, it somehow bothers me.  Perhaps most spacing betwwen tham would have appeased me.Woman Frustrated
