Like the room but would replace all of the furniture.

Our previous home had almost that exact same ceiling with a stone fireplace.  Our  ceiling was higher and didn't come down as far on the side walls.  Therefore the stone fireplace was larger.  I like it, but I guess it's somewhat my style.  Of course, with me, the dark furniture would go and the bookcases would be stained a lighter color.

All in all it's a lovely space.

The ceiling treatment is too heavy for my taste.  Seems to be weighing the entire room down.  Perhaps it would work better with a different floor treatment.  Overall, it's a pass for me.

Once again, looks like a decorators idea of rustic

Perhaps and yet many rooms posted here and elsewhere have been published somewhere and so are most likely going to have some decorator influence. I'd also note 'rustic' need not mean timeworn. In some examples, rustic can mean nothing more than homespun or unpolished... Woman Wink

When I looked at this room, though nice, something seemed off - and clautrophobic to me.

Then I figured out what was bothering me.  Though a little thing the heights of the windows and the sidewall are off.  And, though it's caused by the roof slope, it somehow bothers me.  Perhaps most spacing betwwen tham would have appeased me.Woman Frustrated

@eddyandme  For me that ceiling is just so massive as to be virtually oppressive. I get they want the raw wood vibe but were this my house, I'd have to consider alternatives. The color of the wood also doesn't much appeal to me and given there's so much of it, including the trim, it really doesn't work so well for me... Despite all that, I sort of like the room, though it would never be among my favorite looks.

The view out the window looks like a picture to me -- fake.  This room to me is nothing special and not laid out very well in choice of pieces used.

An FYI... This and other pictures from the layout were taken at an actual ranch in the California wine country, north of Santa Barbara...

The ceiling feels heavy to me. I would prefer the fireplace to go further up to draw the eye up, as is, it cuts the room off.

Maybe change the windows to a A Frame style . I would change all the furniture except the coffee table. I like that it is very spacious.
