From a renovation point of view, this living area has major improvements:

 

Removing the walls on either side of the fireplace

 

The fireplace facelift

 

The updated floor color   

 

I do like the glass and metal coffee table, but I am not in love with the other furnishings.

It definitely opens up that room which is a major improvement. Not fond of the wall color or the furnisings though. Love those new hardwoods!

Opening the wall is a great look. The white on white I'm not liking at all. I liked the contrast of the darker wall and white woodwork in the before. Don't like the modernization of the fireplace either

In the before pic, that door on the left looks as though it doesn't belong there.

The after pic is lovely.  I like that you can see thru to the back room with the windows.  Well done.
