Built in the 1880's, this gem had fallen into disrepair:

Nothing like old mattresses on a porch to get a renovator's juices going!

AFTER:

It gives such a serene feeling-- calm, lovely and with nothing to prove--

They did such a nice job inside too.  They did reconfigure some windows to bring more light.  When farmhouses like this were built, that wasn't always a priority--

The homeowners' collections and antiques warm up the old rooms--

Fabulous original fireplaces in the house, which were described as a bit oversized for the rooms, but give character.  The homeowner repaired and filled them out with materials from the property.

The butcherblock countertops are satiny.  I like the lantern pendants, and the schoolhouse light beyond in the hallway.

Homey, cozy bedrooms--

Another great fireplace in a guest room prepped for a young child's visit:

A house like this feels like it would be so easy to inhabit...

At the same time, it has an un-showy historical air, if that makes sense.  It reminds me of a restored childhood home of any number of U.S. presidents in its feeling, a bit!

Really beautiful transformation. I can't even imagine how much that must have cost!

Wow...spectacular renovation, and beautiful home. Would love to live there. My kind of cozy, traditional, old timey, yet modern too. More colonial than I'd normally do, tending more toward a lighter french country style...but for this home it's perfect to the type/age of the home.

Their mix of traditonal with modern is nicely balanced. I love that kitchen...it's simplicity, yet just right...clean, pretty, functional, modern farmhouse.

Like others said here...I cannot imagine the cost (and time and effort researching, planning, discussing with contractors etc etc) this took. Lucky people who could do it, though.

Just beautiful; tks for sharing.

I absolutely love this! Gorgeous inside and out. They really did a great job. If I had unlimited funds, I would love to do something like this- buy an old, once loved home and make it beautiful again.

Beautiful it took lots of time, energy and money to make the grand old lady look homey and proud once again.

Re: RESCUED TENNESSEE FARMHOUSE

I love to see an older home that's been left for "dead" transformed into something that's beautiful and livable! I guess that's why I like to watch the various house flipping shows.

The house and decor aren't necessarily a favorite of mine but it's been beautifully done and I love that they weren't afraid of color, texture and print as it all blends so well together.

Re: RESCUED TENNESSEE FARMHOUSE

Wow.  I could never even begin to see the potential that would take place there.

It came out beautifully.

I am certain it would be a great place to hold fund raising events for various charities.
